Romanian private airline Dan Air is launching direct scheduled flights from Bucharest to the capitals of the South Caucasus and Caspian region. Scheduled to begin on July 1, the new flight programs to Yerevan, Armenia, and Tbilisi, Georgia, will operate twice weekly using Airbus A320 aircraft, the carrier announced.

In line with its regional expansion strategy, Dan Air has also submitted an application for traffic rights to launch flights to Baku, Azerbaijan, from the Romanian capital.

According to the airline, this expansion reflects growing demand for direct connectivity between Europe, the Caucasian- Caspian region, and the Middle East, alongside an increasing need to serve diaspora communities and underserved markets.

Currently, Dan Air’s fleet comprises one Airbus A319ceo and two A320ceo aircraft. In 2025, the airline carried over 272,000 passengers while demonstrating a high on-time performance rate of 98%.

Founded in 2017 initially under the Just Us Air brand, the operator originally specialized in providing capacity through ACMI leasing (aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance) to third-party carriers.

Today, Dan Air balances scheduled flights under its own brand from Bucharest and Bacău with ACMI operations. Serving as a wet-lease provider, the company cooperates with Romania’s national carrier TAROM and Israel’s Blue Bird in Tel Aviv. Dan Air has been a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) since 2024.

Unlike traditional ultra-low-cost carriers, Dan Air positions itself as a mid-range option. The airline provides complimentary onboard catering and offers a more generous baggage allowance, frequently including one free piece of checked luggage in its standard fares.
