Tajikistan’s Somon Air expands its international reach with flights to Belarus and Saudi Arabia
Dushanbe-based carrier adds Jeddah and Minsk routes alongside fleet expansion
Tajikistan’s flag carrier Somon Air will open two new international routes from the Central Asian country’s capital in August. Starting August 9, the airline will connect Dushanbe directly with Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), followed by the launch of flights on the Dushanbe – Minsk (Belarus) route on August 29.
Regular flights on both routes will operate weekly using Boeing 737 family aircraft.
Earlier this year, the airline expanded its route network by launching flights from its main hub to Tbilisi (Georgia) and Ufa (Russia), as well as connecting Khujand with Kazan (Russia).
The network expansion comes as the carrier increases its capacity: this summer, Somon Air’s fleet is being augmented by two new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, one of which has already been delivered.
