Air Astana Group extends Dubai suspension through end of summer schedule
Carriers cite persistent geopolitical instability across the Persian Gulf region
Kazakhstan’s Air Astana Group has prolonged the suspension of its Dubai (UAE) services until 30 September. The decision, affecting both the parent full-service carrier and its LCC subsidiary FlyArystan, is attributed to ongoing safety and security concerns in the Gulf region.
For Air Astana, the halt applies to scheduled links from Almaty and Astana. Under the preliminary winter schedule effective October, frequencies on both routes are set to be reduced. FlyArystan, meanwhile, has cancelled its only Dubai connection – operating from Aktau – for at least the same period.
The group carried 4.39 million passengers over the first six months of the year, a 2.4% decline year-on-year. To mitigate the impact of regional geopolitical headwinds, the carriers have reallocated capacity to safer Asian markets, with a notable pivot towards Chinese destinations.
