Kazakhstan airlines passenger traffic grows 4% over nine months
Air cargo volumes contract by 6.5% over the same period
During the first nine months of the year, Kazakhstan’s airlines carried a total of 12.38 million passengers, marking a 4.1% increase year-on-year compared to the corresponding period in 2025, according to data released by the Bureau of National Statistics of the Central Asian republic.
In September, Kazakhstan’s air transport sector—the largest in Central Asia—served 1.38 million passengers, achieving a 6.4% growth rate. This made the opening month of autumn one of the most successful periods of the year for passenger expansion, surpassed only by the seasonal peak in August (+9.2%). Conversely, May exerted a dampening effect on the year-to-date trajectory, registering a 1.9% decline in traffic volumes.
Cumulative passenger traffic for the January–September period reached 25.52 billion revenue passenger-kilometers (RPKs), representing a 9.5% year-on-year increase.
In the cargo segment, Kazakhstan’s air carriers handled 20.0 thousand tons of freight over the nine-month period, down 6.5% against the figures recorded during the same timeframe last year.
