Lufthansa Technik extends component support agreement with Uzbekistan Airways

German MRO provider Lufthansa Technik has extended its comprehensive component support agreement with Uzbek flag carrier Uzbekistan Airways through 2035. Under the contract, it provides total component pool support and supply services for Uzbekistan Airways’ Boeing 787 and Airbus A320ceo/neo fleets, ensuring rapid access to spare parts.

“The long-term collaboration reflects Lufthansa Technik’s commitment to supporting the airline’s continued expansion and modernization strategy over the next decade,” the provider stated.

Lufthansa Technik’s partnership with Uzbekistan Airways dates back to 1993, when the airline took delivery of its first Western-built aircraft, an Airbus A310-300. It currently operates six long-haul Boeing 787-8s and 24 narrowbody Airbus A320ceo/neo family aircraft. In 2025, the carrier placed an order for 22 Boeing 787-9s, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2031.

Line and base maintenance across the airline’s entire fleet is handled by its MRO subsidiary, Uzbekistan Airways Technics, which also collaborates with Lufthansa Technik. Beyond component services, the German provider assists its Uzbek partner with LEAP-1A and CFM56-5B engine maintenance for the A320 fleet.

During bilateral talks in September 2026, Uzbek Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov also proposed that Lufthansa Technik establish aviation engineer training programs at Tashkent State Transport University.
