Chinese aircraft seating manufacturer finds first customer in Central Asia
Uzbekistan Airways becomes launch customer for Jiatai’s premium seat
Uzbekistan Airways has selected Jiatai to supply aircraft passenger seats for its new Airbus A321neo fleet. The Uzbeki flag carrier will become the launch customer for the JT220B Premium electric business-class seat. For a Chinese-based aircraft interiors developer and manufacturer, the contract also marks its first aircraft seating order in the Central Asian market.
Under the agreement, Jiatai will supply the JT220B Premium business-class seats and JT520E economy-class seats for more than ten aircraft. Delivery of the first shipset is scheduled for March 2028.
Designed in partnership with UK-based Factorydesign, the JT220B Premium features an electric actuation system, integrated reading and ambient lighting, privacy dividers and headrest wings. According to the airline, ergonomic cushions, a generous seat pitch and a zero-gravity position are designed to provide passengers with greater personal space and improve comfort in flight. The seat is also equipped with seatback inflight entertainment system.
“We are continuously renewing our fleet and working to create an onboard environment that meets the evolving expectations of today’s travelers. Equipping our new Airbus A321neo aircraft with modern business- and economy-class seats is another step in this direction. We believe these new solutions will make the journey even more comfortable and enjoyable for our passengers,” said Shukhrat Khudaykulov, chairman of the board of Uzbekistan Airways.
“Jiatai is committed to developing business-class seating solutions that combine comfort, privacy and thoughtful functionality,” said Liu Jingfeng, Chairman of Jiatai. “We are pleased to welcome Uzbekistan Airways as the launch customer for the JT220B Premium and look forward to the successful progress of the program.”
