An International Training Center has officially commenced operations at the National Aviation Academy of Azerbaijan. Demonstrating the project’s strategic importance, the opening ceremony was attended by President Ilham Aliyev and Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev.

Established via an initiative by the national flag carrier, Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), the facility provides comprehensive emergency response training for flight crews and specialized instruction for air traffic controllers (ATCs). The ATC curriculum adheres strictly to ICAO and EASA standards, utilizing training programs developed by the German Air Navigation Academy (DFS).

On an annual basis, the center is capable of qualifying 30 air traffic controllers and approximately 3,000 flight crew members.

The facility is equipped with a Cabin Emergency Evacuation Trainer (CEET) configured for the Airbus A320neo family, a Real Fire Fighting Trainer (RFFT) for immersive emergency response scenarios, and specialized Boeing 787 door trainers for type-specific crew proficiency. The technology is supplied by Turkey’s SkyArt.

The center’s infrastructure is further distinguished by a Tower (TWR) simulator featuring 360-degree visualization of Baku’s Heydar Aliyev International Airport. This is complemented by advanced radar simulation systems designed to replicate near-real-world air traffic control environments.

Additionally, the complex includes a dedicated training system for operators of specialized airfield ground support vehicles, ensuring safety and efficiency across all airside operations.
